Director James Gunn's Superman Lands on the Streaming Platform This Week
Only 70 days after its big-screen premiere, James Gunn and David Corenswet’s Superman makes its streaming debut on the platform starting Friday.
Corenswet announced the update on his Instagram account with a selfie of his TV showing the film on the streamer’s homepage. He humorously mentioned actor Sara Sampaio with a reference to her character Eve Teschmacher, while Gunn amplified the reveal on X, confirming the movie arrives Friday, Sept. 19. Warner Bros. validated the news soon afterward in an formal announcement.
Interactive Homepage Overhaul
In celebration of Superman’s homecoming, the streaming service is rolling out a exclusive Superman-themed design filled with engaging elements. Fans will see Daily Planet-themed main page visuals, a Fortress of Solitude section showcasing all things Superman, and easter egg pathways across the homepage that transport users into a Lex Luthor-themed zone.
Milestone Achievements
Superman achieved multiple records during its run, such as the biggest opening for a Superman movie in history. It outperformed Barbie in entering the Two Million Watched film community in just 45 days.
Future of the DCU
Despite some viewers being split on its take on the character or how it concludes, Superman has created a promising start in DC's new universe. A follow-up film titled Man of Tomorrow is officially announced, starring the returning lead and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor seemingly teaming up against an even greater threat. The movie is scheduled to begin production next year and debut in theaters on July 9th, 2027.
For now, audiences can enjoy Superman on the platform starting this Friday, Sept. 19.
