An individual who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.

Ruben was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on November 28th.

Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.

She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he operated.

Ruben played a "candy game" with the children, the prosecutor explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to consume candy "as fast as possible".

She told the court the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.

She explained the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC stated items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the police about his worries.

She stated the defendant went on to engage in the "sweet game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"The police had not responded by that point," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, had stated that it was examining the police response of the situation.

The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson called the authorities a second time.

She said the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
