Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Debuts, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Beloved Titles
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. Throughout his extensive trek, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
The company has three new games publicly declared for the upcoming year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
