The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Online Platforms Response

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.

The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Updates

Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
